Weekly Mental Health Q&A

April 10, 2006

“For as long as I can remember, I have always been really comfortable with my sexual orientation as a gay male. My family and friends have been supportive of me for years, and I’ve had many positive relationships. But I met a woman earlier this year, and I really think I may be in love with her. This has never happened to me before, and I’m really confused. I still think I’m gay, because for the most-part, I’m only attracted to men. I don’t even begin to know how to deal with my feelings. I don’t know whether starting a relationship with a woman would be a bad idea, or how to explain all of this to my friends and family, and even what this means about my identity. Could someone at SCRS help me to sort through all of this?”

WHAT SCRS CAN DO:

  • Help you sort through the complicated feelings surrounding this attraction
  • Refer you to a support group in the Chicago area that deals with sexual orientation issues
