Weekly Mental Health Q&A

January 23, 2006

“During my first few months at the U of C, I made some really great friends. But there’s one difference between us that is always lingering in the back of my mind. I come from a family with lots of money, and my friends do not. They have to worry about things like financial aid, and saving money, whereas finances aren’t an issue for me. My friends don’t yet know that I come from a wealthy family, and I’m worried that they’ll think differently about me when they find out. Can I talk to someone at SCRS about my worries, and try to figure out how to be honest with my friends about our differences?”

WHAT SCRS CAN DO:

  • Help you explore your own feelings about the difference in financial status between you and your friends
  • Help you deal your fears about being honest with your friends
