Weekly Mental Health Q&A

January 2, 2006

I had the flu last month, and got very behind in my classes. No matter how hard I try to catch up, it seems like I fall even more behind. I’m so stressed out about this that I’ve come to a stand still. Every time I look at the pile of books I need to read, I get so overwhelmed and upset that the only way I can calm myself is to do something totally unrelated to school, and the cycle continues. Can someone at SCRS help me get back on track with my work, and help me overcome my fear of being behind?

WHAT SCRS CAN DO:

  • Provide you with a space in which you can discuss your anxiety about falling behind
  • Refer you to ASAP (Academic Skills Assessment Program) so that a counselor can help you to develop study skills that will put you back on track
  • Refer you to SCRS’s procrastination support group if needed
