Weekly Mental Health Q&A

Monday, Jan. 24 th

"My first quarter at U of C was terrific. I made lots of new friends, did well in my classes, and had fun exploring the city. But now that winter has set in, I feel like I have no energy. I can’t seem to get work done, and I rarely leave the dorm. Even though nothing particularly bad has happened in my life, I think that I might be depressed. Is this possible? Is there any way SCRS could help me to deal with these feelings?"

WHAT SCRS CAN DO:

  • help you understand the factors that may have triggered your depression if you are, in fact, depressed
  • help you rule out other factors that may be causing you to feel depressed, such as medical problems, or the natural effects of winter quarter
  • help you develop coping strategies for getting through winter quarter
