Weekly Mental Health Q&A

Monday, Apr. 18th

“I have been struggling a lot with eating lately. I'm not bulimic or anorexic, and my weight is where it should be. I even eat healthily. But I think about food all the time. I'm constantly planning when and what I'm going to eat at my next meal. After I eat, I often feel fat, and when I look in the mirror, I am aware that the image I see is distorted by my worries about food. When I go out to lunch with people, I try to order something healthier than what the other person gets. My worries about food are dominating too much of my thoughts. Can SCRS help me to change the way I think about food?”

WHAT SCRS CAN DO:

  • help you think about whether you might be worrying about food in order to avoid dealing with other aspects of your life
  • help you address distortions in your thinking about food and body image
  • help connect with you support groups at the university or in the community, if necessary
