Weekly Mental Health Q&A

Monday, Apr. 11th

“I went to a tiny high school in a rural area with the same 24 kids in my class since Kindergarten. I was really excited to come to the U of C, because I thought that FINALLY, I'd be able to meet someone I could date. I've been here for almost a full year now, and even though there are thousands of students, I can't seem to meet anyone. I've made lots of friends, and I've met lots of people, but I still can't find a date! I can't figure out if there's something wrong with me, or if I have crazy expectations, or if this school is full of students who only want to study. Can I talk to someone at SCRS about my dating-blues?”

WHAT SCRS CAN DO:

  • help you look at what hasn't been working for you up until now, and think about new strategies
  • help you think about your social skills and you may need to adapt to this new environment

DISCLAIMER: None of the vignettes are based on actual University of Chicago students or specific incidents. The vignettes suggest possible scenarios but do not represent any particular University students. The SCRS maintains a strict confidentiality policy that is outlined our Policies section.
