Weekly Mental Health Q&A

“I had problems with alcohol back in high school. I got help during my senior year, and have been sober for a year now. I’m really excited to go to college, but I’m worried about how I will handle social situations where alcohol is present. I was wondering if someone at SCRS could help me figure out how to deal with these situations in advance, so that I have a better chance of NOT being tempted to drink? ”

WHAT SCRS CAN DO:

  • Arrange for you to meet with a therapist who specializes in substance abuse and recovery
  • Help you plan how to handle certain situations in which alcohol is present
  • Connect with support groups in the Hyde Park area, if necessary
