“I’m a grad student, and I’ve still never dated anyone.
I’m embarrassed about this, because most of my friends are either married or in serious relationships.
When they ask me why I don’t date, I lie and say that it’s because of religious reasons. But the truth is
I’ve just never had the confidence to ask someone out. And I get so nervous about the prospect of going
on a date, that if someone asks me, I make up excuses for why I can’t go. I really want to change.
Can someone at SCRS help me figure out why I’m so socially timid, and help me to break out of my shell?”
WHAT SCRS CAN DO:
- help you talk through your concerns about dating
- help you consider different factors in your life that may be contributing to your social inhibitions
- support you as you attempt to change the social patterns that are currently inhibiting you
