Stress Management for Scholars

Each workshop is limited to 10 students.

This workshop is a one hour psycho-educational group that meets once a week for four weeks. The core stress management training is cumulative, with each week’s material comprising one of four training modules. Each workshop series will consist of 2–8 students.

The content of the modules include:

  1. Didactic presentation of the Stress/Relaxation Response and the effects of stress upon the mind/body function.
  2. Experiential exercises to identify student’s specific stress/relaxation modes.
  3. Instruction/demonstration of specific relaxation techniques.

Goals of the workshop are to help students:

  1. Reduce excessive worry and anxiety.
  2. Increase academic performance by improving concentration and mental effectiveness.
  3. Lessen physical symptoms of stress and tension.
  4. Learn specific and practical coping strategies.
  5. Develop confidence in their ability to cope with stressful life experiences
